At the Knee Surgery Center of Excellence, we aim to provide high-quality patient care to those in need of orthopedic procedures both at home and around the globe. To accomplish this goal, our doctors donate a portion of their proceeds to Arthroscopy Worldwide, a humanitarian effort that seeks to educate doctors worldwide.
Founded by La Peer’s Dr. Steven Meier in 2003, Arthroscopy Worldwide was organized to allow doctors around the world to share their surgical techniques.
“In this field it’s really important to be progressive and keep up to date,” said Dr. Meier. “If I just stayed at home all the time, I don’t know how I’d do it. Traveling introduces you to new different concepts, stimulates thought and gives perspective outside of your routine sphere.”
Additionally, Arthroscopy Worldwide strives to educate doctors in developing nations about state-of-the-art surgical techniques. Currently, Dr. Meir and the other surgeons with Arthroscopy Worldwide have shared advanced orthopedic techniques with local doctors throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
