Dr. Rajan Patel, Medical Director
After graduating from medical school Dr. Patel started his surgical internship at UCLA Medical Center. He then completed his orthopedic residency at Albert Einstein/ LIJ Medical Center in New York. During residency Dr. Patel presented several research papers at Orthopedic Research Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and various other academic meetings. He served as the team physician for professional league baseball, soccer, tennis and hockey athletes. He also was a clinical instructor in several national orthopedic courses for shoulder reconstructive procedures.
His interest in adult reconstruction led him to complete an additional year of fellowship training in joint reconstruction at the University of Pennsylvania where he crafted his skills in complex adult reconstruction of the shoulder, hip, and knee. Along with primary and revision joint reconstruction, his other clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery, alternative bearings for joint reconstruction, CAS (computer assisted surgery), and orthobiologic applications in orthopedics surgery.
Dr. Patel holds two unique board certifications in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, along with a fellowship in adult reconstruction. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and Arthroscopic Association of North America. He is also Qualified Medical Examiner (Q.M.E) for the State of California Industrial Medical Council. Dr. Patel also has a private orthopedic practice in addition to being the director of the Knee Surgery Center of Excellence.
Dr. Andrew Weiss, Medical Director
Andrew Weiss, M.D. is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at La Peer Health Systems in Beverly Hills. In addition to his background in general orthopedics, orthopedic sports medicine, and orthopedic trauma, Dr. Weiss loves working with children and has developed expertise in treating pediatric orthopedic trauma, including the operative and non-operative management of broken bones and other injuries. He has written many articles on laser surgery and the MRI evaluation of articular cartilage and has lectured extensively on the evaluation and management of sports related injuries. As an avid runner, competing in both marathons and triathlons, he has firsthand knowledge of the physical and mental challenges running athletes face.
A native of Los Angeles, Dr. Weiss attended medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors (Alpha Omega Alpha). His post-doctoral training began with an orthopedic surgery residency at UCLA/ Harbor Medical Center. During his residency, Dr. Weiss had extensive experience in general orthopedics and orthopedic trauma. Next he completed a sports medicine fellowship at UCLA Medical Center, where he served as a team physician for the UCLA football, volleyball, and baseball teams. Outside of work, Dr. Weiss enjoys traveling, watching college athletics, and, most of all, spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
Dr. Joseph Isaacson
As a private practice orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Isaacson specializes in working with children and people with congenital abnormalities and small stature as well as joint reconstructive surgery in young adults. Dr. Isaacson has his own orthopedic practice and works at City of Hope with childhood cancer patients. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Orthopedics at the University of Southern California and a member of the medical staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where he has served on many medical committees including the Medical Executive Committee. He is also on staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he has held more than 14 committee and board offices.
Dr. Melvin Nutig
Dr. Nutig has had a long and distinguished career in orthopedic surgery, and he is proud of his position as one of the senior members of the Beverly Hills Orthopedic Group. He is a general orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in sports medicine, as well as shoulder, elbow, hip and knee surgery, and has his own orthopedic practice. He was also an early champion of telemedicine, the use of modern communication technology for the delivery of medical care where it might otherwise not be available. He has been recognized as an expert in the field, both locally and nationally.
Dr. Peter Newton
Dr. Newton began his orthopedic training in New York City with an orthopedic research fellowship at Columbia University. Thereafter, he did his general surgery internship at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital followed by his orthopedic residency at the New York Orthopedic Hospital, Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then spent an additional year in San Diego, obtaining a fellowship in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic surgery, and knee and shoulder reconstructive surgery. He has his own practice specializing in orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Eric Millstein
Dr. Millstein has presented research on long-term outcomes of ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and remains active in teaching other surgeons complex arthroscopic techniques as a complement to his clinical practice.
Dr. Sonu Ahluwalia
Dr. Ahluwalia received his orthopaedic training at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program in Boston, one of the most sought after training programs in orthopaedic surgery. He completed a fellowship in Shoulder Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in Boston. He is trained in arthroscopic repair of rotator cuffs and cartilage repair of the shoulder as well as conventional and reverse shoulder replacement surgery. His fellowship in Sports Medicine was completed at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. This is accredited by the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has a private orthopedic practice and is trained in advance techniques for knee arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction along with other sports related conditions.
Dr. Steven Meier
Dr. Meier’s areas of focus involve shoulder, knee and athletic injuries and the surgical and non-surgical treatment of these conditions. His emphasis is on minimally-invasive arthroscopic surgery and he has a particular interest in all-arthroscopic repair for rotator cuff injury and shoulder instability as well as reconstructive cartilage and knee ligament surgery. His specialized training provides him with expertise in using state-of-the-art, arthroscopic techniques for treating problems of the shoulder, knee, elbow, hip and ankle. He also has a private orthopedic and sports medicine practice.
